DR. ANTHONY U. MARTINEZ
DR. ANTHONY U. MARTINEZ

Anthony U. Martinez had two primary homes when he was growing up as a child and as a teenager, Arizona and Idaho. He was a migrant farmworker alongside his parents from a young age until he graduated from Casa Grande Union High School (Arizona) with distinction and honors. His family migrated back and forth each year, splitting their time about 50% each year in Idaho, and 50% each year in Arizona.

After earning his B.A. degree from the University of San Francisco and serving stateside on active duty during the Vietnam War, he returned to earn his Master’s Degree in Social Work from ASU. As a Sun Devil sports fan from the time he was in grammar school, Martinez so loved the university that he later returned with his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, to become an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work. He would then return six years later to the Bay Area work at the University of California, Office of the President.

Today, after spending over 30 years mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area in higher education as an administrator and professor in business and law, he returned to his second “native” state, Idaho, in 2009 to start another life. It hasn’t taken long for Martinez to find his way into the hearts of the community. He teaches in the College of Business & Economics at Boise State University as a Special Lecturer.  On occasion he has also taught Business and Management Law Northwest Nazarene University. He is retired from the California State University system but continues to teach summers at San Francisco State University. Dr. Martinez is Vice- President of National Latina/ Latino Commission. He was also very instrumental in establishing The Arizona Latino Commission, and Help4Kidz Foundation along side of his sister Rev. Eve  Martinez Nunez.

Professionally, Martinez is a Certified Professional Mediator, specializing in child custody, business, and community mediation. He volunteers for the Ada County Small Claims Court as a mediator and for several non-profit organizations as a business strategist. As an extension of his work on strategy, he has trained and guided the Idaho Latino community to launch a leadership institute.

Martinez is on the Board of Directors of the Idaho Mediation Association and is past Chairman/President of the Idaho Latino Scholarship Foundation.  He is married and the father of one son, Jameson (who he nicknamed “Tiger”) Walker Wolf, who is in his third year in college. He enjoys golf, biking, and travel.  Dr. Anthony U. Martinez is retired as a Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army Reserves.
